Positive One Connections Human Service Model (POCHSM) is designed to value any and all positive activities and projects done in our communities and organizations, then transform that value into outreach, support, and enhancement solutions that add lasting benefit to all areas in our country. We achieve this outstanding accomplishment by structuring our activities and projects so that they can be used as tools for instruction, presentation and treatment support. An additional element to this structure is using needs of our own community members as the basis for all our projects and activities. Using the needs of our own community members as central components for our projects and activities to be formed around ensures that we receive benefits that may or may not include financial resources, if the financial resources are not forthcoming, benefit comes from the completion of the project and or activity which solves a need that the community has identified. This process of ensuring that completion of our projects and participation in our activities bring benefits that extend beyond only money creates a win/win scenario that others will want to be a part of. This is how we will grow. We grow by showing how our positive actions for others creates a win for us all. We have learned through our introduction to economic development from Real World Economic Development Academy, that all our activities can be aligned with the five families of economic development. Economic development is already established and practiced for many years successfully throughout the United States and is currently being used today. In the past we have been led to put all of our focus on business. A portion of economic development is focused on business, but this is only a portion. Through the course, Introduction into Economic Development, taught by Real World Economic Development Academy, we have learned that economic development has five families and those five families provide a framework by which any and all community members can align their activities and collaborate with one another.
POCHSM is straight forward and block/arrow designed so that any community in any part of the nation can input their own activities/projects and align these items with the corresponding family of economic development. Why is it important to be in alignment with economic development one may ask? One answer we have touched on earlier and will go in greater detail now is that the entire nation of the United States is already using this system. There are resources already in place for projects and activities using economic development processes. Once the economic development project/activity is implemented by an appropriately structured organization and or entity the resources that are already available, many of those financial resources come from our tax dollars, can then be insisted upon to keep our projects/activities sustained. POCHSM is also designed so that we may interact in meaningful and useful ways during COVID-19 pandemic. Since POCHSM uses needs of community members as the basis for all projects/activities we can identify what needs are lacking during the COVID-19 pandemic and create projects/activities to meet these needs. We can then present the in work and or completed project/activity to our appropriate public officials so that we may obtain resources during this pandemic. All projects/activities will have the ability to be modified and sustained post COVID-19.
